You Are My Sunshine!

I don't like having pictureless posts and I don't really have pictures to go with this post...

...so instead you get pictures of my little model in training!

So Saturday was a bust Yudu wise. Apparently the Yudu demonstration was just a rumor, even though I called the night mefore to double check and talked to the manager to find out the specifics...hum... oh well. Well since I had taken the time to drive the hour or so to get there I decided to take the opportunity to do a little shopping. I had always wanted to check out the store 'Once Upon A Child'. I LOVE THAT STORE!

Isaac and Seth are both planning to play teeball in the spring, and although they are not required to wear cleats I don't want them to be the only ones not wearing them. So when I found a pair of Nike cleats in Seth's size for $9.50 and a pair of Adidas in Isaac's size for $8.50 I had to grab them. I also grabbed a pair of new with tags Osh Kosh pants at a steal! I will definately be shopping there again in the future!

Isaac also had another first! A first report card! And at the parent/teacher conference his teacher went on and on about how well behaved he is and how well he is doing in school. I am such a proud momma!

I love those eyes!
What made you smile today?

Sock It To Breast Cancer

So my girlfriend from school was planning to go to a Sock-It-To-Cancer Sock hop and needed three poodle skirts. One for herself, her daughter and her friends little girl. I didn't have a lot of advance notice (2 days) so they are super basic, yet so cute.

And of course the day I finished them and needed to get them to Steph...I couldn't find my camera anywhere (because it was on my bed under my pillow where it belongs...DUH!). Well fortunately -kinda- Steph needed her altered a bit.

So I fixed it and got a picture of at least her skirt. Cute!

I Got A New Toy!

And I can't wait to get started!

Photo courtesy of google images (sorry I can't remember the exact site)

I've done research, read reviews and watched the instructional DVD, but tomorrow I am attending a yudu demonstration. I am hoping it gives me a better understanding of how it works and how long it will take to actually finish a product with it.

I have yet to actually make anything with it, and yet I have had many, many requests. I am so looking forward to tomorrow and actually learning how to use this!

You Are My Sunshine!

Even though these pants were supposed to be a Christmas gift for Isaac, he has already worn them a few times. I love how well they fit him. And he loves the style.

So today I thought I would grab a few pictures so everyone else out in blog land can see how they look on him as well. I let him choose the poses today and these are what he gave me....don't you see that invisible gun in his hands? : )

Luckily he hasn't seen the other two pair of No Kung Fu pants I made as Christmas gifts along with these. I have also started working on the jacket (or blouse as it is actually called) to go with the pants. And I have two other little guys begging for 'army clothes' too!

I guess I better get busy! What made you smile today?

The Emperor's New Clothes: Take 3

And pair number 3...!

I used the Ottobre's Spring 1/2011 No Kung Fu pattern again...

...and changed it up again!

I did the decorative stitching on the pockets this time and sewed the cargo pockets on a different way then the pattern directs you to do.

Again I didn't put elastic in the waist but instead added a tightening strap.

I love how they turned out as well. And now I am taking a break from the No Kung Fu pants. For a few days anyway, after all I do have two other boys that would like these pants as well.

The Emperor's New Clothes: Take 2

So this is how pair number 2 turned out...

I used Ottobre's Spring 1/2011 No Kung Fu pants pattern again...

...and altered it again.

I didn't do the decorative stitching on the knee patches, and decided to eliminate the cargo pockets on this pair.

And instead of the elastic in this pair I added beltloops from the original camouflage pants I took apart to make the first No Kung Fu pants.

Technically these are a Christmas present but the recipient (Isaac Matthew) has seen them already and loves them! I'd say that's a success.

Muncie Children's Museum

Today we went to the Muncie Children's Museum with my sister-in-law and favorite nephew!

It was a blast! They got to be ants in an ant hill...

...explore the five senses...

...learn about important jobs around town...

...be scarecrows...

...act out the various jobs through town...

...and put on a show!

I love this picture of Seth! It just shows off his personality so much!

It's a fun place for kids to run off some energy : )

The Emperor's New Clothes: Take 1

My boys are so hard to dress because of their measurements. They are so slim with long legs. Isaac suffers from it the worst so I decided to make him some custom pants. I finished the first of the three pair I have started and think they turned out cute. He wanted "army pants" so I present to you Army Pants!

I used the Ottobre 1/2011 pattern book for the No Kung Fu pants in size 104 (about a 2T waist) and added length (about a 5T length). I made a few changes to the pattern.

There is not elastic in the waist because of the tightening strap in the back. And I didn't put the zippers in the ankles because I used the tightening straps to make them more authentic.

They aren't perfect but he is happy and that is the most important thing.
